There was a time when Columbus, Ohio had a Polynesian supper club so ambitious it casually called itself “The World’s Most Beautiful Polynesian Supper Club” and honestly? Nobody seems eager to argue with it.

The Kahiki wasn’t just a restaurant. It was a full-scale midcentury fever dream built in 1961 at the height of America’s tiki obsession: towering A-frame architecture, flaming drinks, thunderstorm effects, giant Moai-inspired figures, indoor lagoons, mystery, spectacle, and enough carved wood to qualify as its own ecosystem.

People didn’t just go there for dinner.
They disappeared into it for the night.
