Some places served dinner. Some places served drinks. And a very select few served both under a hanging dummy with a straight face.
This tee pays tribute to Hangman’s Tree Café of Tarzana, California — one of the strangest and most unforgettable roadside joints ever to dangle from Ventura Boulevard. With its gnarled tree, swinging noose, and famously terrible promise of “Lousy Food, Warm Beer & Cocktails, Sneering Service,” Hangman’s Tree turned bad service into an art form long before irony got fashionable.
Printed with a bold vintage-style graphic that looks like it could’ve been pulled from an old menu or newspaper ad, this shirt is perfect for lovers of lost bars, roadside Americana, oddball restaurant history, and anyone who appreciates a little gallows humor with their wardrobe.
It’s a conversation starter, a deep-cut history nod, and a wearable monument to one of California’s weirdest dining legends.
