Before country went uptown, it kicked up sawdust at Gilley’s.

Opened in Pasadena, Texas, by country singer Mickey Gilley and club owner Sherwood Cryer, Gilley’s grew into a sprawling, 6,000-person dance hall billed as the world’s largest honky-tonk. It packed live country music, multiple bars, a recording studio, acres of dance floor and the infamous mechanical bull known as El Toro beneath one enormous Texas roof.

Then Hollywood came knocking. Gilley’s became the neon-lit heart of the 1980 film Urban Cowboy, helping launch mechanical bulls, pearl snaps, cowboy boots and honky-tonk nightlife into a full-blown national craze.

Our vintage-style tee salutes the club in its glory days, when Mickey Gilley was behind the piano, the dance floor was packed and somebody was always convinced they could stay on that bull for eight seconds.

Printed in distressed dark red ink on a warm orange tee, the design features Gilley’s Club, Pasadena, Texas, Recording Studio, and Dining & Dancing in a bold period-inspired layout. It feels like a treasured souvenir rescued from the glove compartment of an old Ford pickup.
