Some shirts smell faintly of gasoline, diner coffee, and trouble waiting at the next intersection.
The original Bull Dog Café opened in Los Angeles in 1928 as one of California’s great programmatic roadside buildings, shaped like an enormous bulldog and impossible to ignore from the street. Decades later it was rebuilt for The Rocketeer, where it slipped perfectly into the film’s world of pulp-era pilots, shadowy gangsters, and chrome-soaked Hollywood adventure. This design carries that same worn-in energy, like a souvenir rescued from a roadside counter near an airfield outside the city.
Built for Rocketeer devotees, vintage architecture obsessives, roadside Americana hunters, and anybody who believes giant novelty buildings were one of civilization’s better ideas.
Wear it to car shows, conventions, old movie theaters, or anywhere the jukebox still works and the coffee arrives too hot to drink immediately.
Warning: may inspire sudden detours down abandoned highways and strong opinions about Art Deco diners.
